SportsPlaya as a concept was founded in June 2008. Transforming this concept into what you see today has been a very lengthy process. SportsPlaya's vision was to create a first class sports website which would be the new online home for anything and everything relating to sport. This vision, however, was to be delivered on a shoestring budget.
"To become the first world class independent sports networking utility" Essentially, we wanted to build a platform which allowed sports enthusiasts to showcase themselves to a wider audience consisting of like minded individuals who also devote a big part of their life to sport. SportsPlaya wanted to be thought of as, "your life in sport, online". You are in control of your "playa" profile so do as much or as little as you want.
SportsPlaya has been created and delivered through a small team of passionate sports participants. With a strong background in rugby, football, tennis, golf to name a few, we wanted to expand our passions and develop what is ultimately a social and professional network but purely for sport. Our challenge is going to be the fact that we're to take on the major players in this space and the services they provide which are now part of everyday language. Despite this fact, we have huge ambition for this service combined with the dynamic and competitive nature of the SportsPlaya team, it is a challenge we are very much looking forward to.
As a participant of sport, you always have to accept that you may have made some bad decisions or that there is always a lot of room for improvement. This ethos has been carried forward into SportsPlaya and we would like to know things you like about the site and things that you don't and any suggestions you might have to better the service you receive.
